We believe Sexual Violence and Assault is never okay and has no place within the Staffordshire University community.

Staffordshire University is committed to promoting a safe and supportive environment for each and every member of our community. We work continuously to improve prevention, response, support and investigation of sexual assault and other forms of sexual violence.

Sexual violence includes any form of sexual activity (involving physical contact, words, or photographs) that takes place without the other person’s full and informed consent. Rape and sexual assault are mostly carried out by someone known to the victim; a partner, friend, colleague or other family member. Sexual violence can also be committed by strangers.

Sexual violence can happen to anyone regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, class, or background. Research shows that the majority of sexual violence is experienced by women and girls, but men and boys can also be victims.

The important thing to remember if you have been raped or experienced any other kind of sexual violence, no matter where you were, what you were doing, what you were wearing, what you were saying, if you were drunk or under the influence of drugs, we are here to support you.
